Former minister Noëlle Lenoir, the subject of a complaint by SOS Racisme for making racist remarks on the television channel CNews, partially retracted her comments, while justifying them, in a press release on Wednesday, August 13.
[…]She was responding to the Constitutional Council's decision to invalidate several key provisions of a bill aimed at tightening the detention of illegal immigrants in detention centers (CRA). The law, thus censored, was promulgated this Tuesday.
"I stand by my words.""Obviously, you should have heard thousands, not millions. Having corrected that, I stand by my words," Ms. Lenoir clarified Wednesday. "I obviously did not refer to the Algerian community, which, as a whole, lives peacefully in France, but to a minority affected by the OQTF (Order of Foreigners' Rights) and which nevertheless remains within the territory of the Republic," she stated.
